marc jacobs x lady gaga

so i posted earlier that m. jacobs had cancelled his infamous after-party last year, due to the strangle of the recession. however, it seems he is ready and willing to make up for it this year. the guestlist quantity is still under consideration, but the guest star is not -- lady gaga! a marc jacobs x lady gaga collabo is definitely something that should peak throngs of interest. i guess we'll just have to wait and see?!

well, that's just fabulous

Later that day, I got to thinking about relationships. There are those that open you up to new and exotic. Those that are old and familiar. Those that bring up lots of questions. Those that bring you somewhere unexpected. Those that bring you far from where you started. And those that bring you back.

But the most exciting, challenging, and significant relationship of all..is the one you have with yourself. And if you find someone to love the you you love, well, that's just fabulous.

word to the wise - Dr. Seuss

You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes.
You can steer yourself in any direction you choose.
You're on your own.
And you know what you know.
You are the guy/lady who'll decide where to go.

happy birthday to you.

to miss Marilyn Monroe, who would have graced us with 83 years of sophisticated spunk were she still with us today.

actress, model, sex symbol...a reminder today that all women, no matter how curvy they are, what career they pursue, or which charming disposition they possess, are beautiful -- inside and out.

"I am not interested in money. I just want to be wonderful."

years of style...and sex

other than the poignant monologue of the fabulous Carrie Bradshaw, i couldn't help but notice how timeless the style is. carrie ranging from boyfriend jeans (and practically everything else she wore), charlotte in classy sheaths and trenches, miranda in feminized menswear, and samantha with body-con dresses. how many Christian Louboutin red-soles made cameos, accessories galore, and carrie's medium waved bob. cute men too [;

if there's anything out there that would be the absolute go-to for style, it would definitely be any season of Sex and the City. it was like resurfaced trends galore. definitely have to love how fashion errs on the recycling side. the recession is bringing out the true face of style...your own.

i really love my...TV SHOW

GOSSIP GIRL! LOVE LOVE LOVE it! there is just something about the too-mature-for-school drama and the inexplicably covetous wardrobe that captures my attention. thank goodness for online episodes, because this entire semester i had to miss it for long nights at the library =x

and other than being my favorite character, Blair Waldorf, Leighton Meester is practically my style muse. adore her as Leighton, commend her as B.

sue me for being a fan, but i cannot wait to go on the tour around the city's sights on the show via On Location. it's like a day in the life of "Manhattan's elite." (: [they also do a Sex and the City tour lol]

a month late, but check out their spread in April 2nd's Rolling Stone. a steamy shoot, to say the least, and amazing photography, courtesy of Terry Richardson.

alpha [FE]male

granted i'm not that much of a fan of yellow gold (i prefer white gold), i think this is a solid piece...for your man. F fast cars and power suits, this charm bracelet is the epitome of studly solitaire. designed by Jamie-Lynn Sigler and friend, and premiered on HBO's Entourage, CJ Free offers a variety of charms.

personally, i'd rock this in a minute. alpha female..the independent woman. love the unisexuality of her collection.

basking in the ambience

Carolina Herrera! she is one gorgeous woman for a 70-something-year-old. also saw Nina Garcia, but was too nervous to even think of taking a picture of her. she was literally right in front of my face! haha. i get so star struck when it comes to the fashion world.

*sigh. i'll be INSIDE those white tents, instead of freezing my cute little tush off outside. [;

06 February 2009

it's gunna be a PINK valentine's

so i wrote a post a while back about Christian Louboutin desinging a special pair of pumps (in "Barbie Pantone 219 Pink")for a Barbie 50th Birthday runway show (which EVERY model will be wearing btw). now i just got a sneak at the 50 other designers participating in the showcase, and wowww. a BUNCH of my tops are there. i must admit that i'm a little upset they didn't enlist Marc Jacobs though, he would've done awesome.

alphabetically: Anna Sui, Baby Phat, Badgley Mischka, Betsey Johnson, Bob Mackie, Brian Reyes, Calvin Klein, Carmen Marc Valvo, Catherine Malandrino, Chris Benz, Costello Tagliapietra, Derek Lam, Diane von Furstenberg, Donna Karan, Erin Fetherston, House of Field, Jeremy Scott, Juicy Couture, Kai Kuhne, Kenneth Cole, Koi Suwannagate, Lyn Devon, Marchesa, Michael Kors, Monique Lhuillier, Naeem Khan, Nanette Lepore, Nicole Miller, Norma Kamali, Peter Som, Rachel Roy, Rag & Bone, Rebecca Taylor, Reem Acra, Robert Best, Rosa Cha, The Blonds, Three As Four, Tibi, Tommy Hilfiger, Tory Burch, Tracy Reese, Trina Turk, Tuleh, Twinkle, Vena Cava, Vera Wang, Vivienne Tam, Yeohlee, Yigal Azrouel

particularly excited to see what DvF and Vera have to offer.

and what an opportune time to exploit the color pink, by having the show held on valentine's day during NY Fashion Week! i'd kill to be there!

p.s. keep an eye out for all other "pink carpet" events throughout the year (eg Bloomingdales, Stila via Sephora, Dylan's Candy Bar), as Barbie celebrates around the world.

take it back. wayyy back.

the thing about american idol...you hear songs you probably haven't heard in FOREVER! case in point, Dusty Springfield's "You Don't Have to Say You Love Me," and Taylor Dayne's "Love Will Lead You Back."

here are some renditions by american idol contestants: Nadia Turner, Stephanie Edwards, and Ramiele Malubay.

at last

welcome to Presidency, Mr. Barack H. Obama. at last.

i think the Michelle and Barack are just about the most amazing couple. their demeanor, their swag, their love. it's all beautiful. and they're beautiful together. how adorable were they dancing? so romantic. i'm smitten by them.

he's a lucky to man, to have such a wonderful woman standing by his side.

Gossip Girls like sneakers!

leather mini skirt and sneakers? only queen B would pull it off. Leighton Meester for Reebok, in November of 2008. i simply adore her. the kicks remind me of chucks.

and of course, lil J followed, with the Nike Viral Campaign. i must say, these are sick. i'd want them in black. check out her video.

fashion does it again

boy, do we love Obama. check out the newest inventories in support of the 44th President-elect's upcoming inauguration. all proceeds go towards inauguration costs. designers include Donna Karan, Derek Lam, Narcisco Rodriguez, and Tory Burch.

my favorite is this sheer Zac Posen bow-tie tee.

only a few more days!

mrs. president

politically, fashionably, personally, i definitely admire her.

“Mrs. Obama is, first of all, very elegant and has wonderful taste,” Ms. Solomon said. “But she also recognizes the value of beautiful dresses and not big prices. She dresses like taste doesn’t necessarily have to do with brand or status, but with what looks well on your body and makes you look glamorous, bottom line.” And that, she added, is “very refreshing and appropriate for this period.”

“She could potentially do what Jackie Kennedy did, bring about a new awareness and a fresh outlook, just by not being so intentionally ‘first lady,’ by mixing designer things with off the rack,” Ms. Sui said. “She can give a big boost to the American fashion industry — and we need all the help we can get.”

making the most of the recession, holding up the man running our country, and looking all types of fabulous the whole time doing her thing.
