mamababushka!
i always thought that's what they were called. but apparently not. these "Matrioshka" dolls are specially designed for Vogue's 10th anniversary (in Russia). designers included YSL, D&G, Prada, Versace, and Ralph Lauren. proceeds from their sales are going to charity.
“The designers sketches were realized by Russian craftsmen, who hand-painted the 50 centimeter dolls. “Every Matrioshka is unique and a piece of art in itself,” said Aliona Doletskaya, Russian Vogue’s editor-in-chief. “Installation, sculpture, objet d’art - you can call it however you wish.”
